Welcome to our monthly governance round-up. This month we shine a spotlight on public trust in charities and share the latest governance news, resources and dates for your diary.
The charity regulator has appointed David Holdsworth as its next chief executive, with sector bodies welcoming the appointment. Holdsworth will take up the position in July 2024, leaving a post in the Animal and Plant Health Agency.
ACEVO’s CEO Jane Ide and NCVO’s own Sarah Vibert have both praised Holdsworth’s experience and commitment to the Commission and the charity sector.
The RACE Report, focusing on diversity and inclusion within climate justice spaces, has delivered its second instalment. The report identifies the racial gap between the UK working population and staff in environmental, conservation, climate and sustainability charities.
It calls for transparency – asking organisations to share where their data (if appropriate) and their commitments to equality, diversity and inclusion. This openness and accountability takes us closer to a more equitable charity landscape.
