Celebrating Trustees’ Week 2023

Our chief executive Sarah Vibert celebrates the start of Trustees' Week and shares our plans.

It’s the start of Trustees’ Week! We’re excited to celebrate the hard work and achievements of nearly one million trustees who give their time to help charities serve people and communities across the country.

The theme of this year’s celebration is:

We’ll be focusing on how trustees can use the principles of environmental, social and governance (ESG) to lead their charities into the future.

Volunteers leading volunteers

With sector leaders facing many challenges, the strategic insight of trustees has never been so vital. But their importance is often underestimated.

They dedicate hours of their time and resources, while taking on enormous responsibilities to enable the brilliant work that goes into supporting communities across the country. They do all this while keeping sight of the bigger picture.

With many organisations experiencing significant operational challenges, it’s more important than ever to step back and acknowledge the unseen work of our trustees. Trustees’ Week is a chance to thank them for their commitment to the sector.

I’d like to thank our brilliant board of trustees, including our two recently appointed trustees, for all the time they dedicate to supporting NCVO’s governance. Their wealth of expertise, wisdom and diverse perspectives are invaluable assets to our organisation.

Trustees’ Week events

Throughout the week, we’re hosting a series of events that will explore how trustees can work together to lead our charities into the future.

We’re grateful to our sponsors Atkinson HR, Utility Aid, Rathbones and Trustees Unlimited for making our Trustees’ Week events possible.

Online events

Join us for a series of free online events exploring ESG actions trustees can take.

We're also hosting an online event exclusively for NCVO members.

Local conferences

We’re proud to be partnering with local organisations to deliver the following in-person conferences.

We’re also hosting an online plenary event on 10 November. This will bring together representatives from the conferences to hear about their discussions and identify common themes.
