Our tribute to Michelle

It is with much love and respect that we pay tribute to our colleague and friend, Michelle Curtis, who passed away unexpectedly in November. We are truly devastated by her loss.

Michelle was a hugely important part of NCVO, admired and valued by her many friends across the organisation.

She joined NCVO in 2017 as part of the charities evaluation services team. She then assisted the enormous transition to putting our training courses online during the pandemic.

In her role as senior training officer, Michelle led our open training programme, supporting thousands of charity staff and volunteers each year to learn about the topics which matter most. Michelle made a huge difference to those learners, caring deeply about her work and ensuring every person had a good learning experience.

Michelle was an integral part of the NCVO community and an active member of our REACH network – our staff-led group for colleagues from the global majority. She was also an eager member of the Union, unafraid to speak up to create a better outcome for others.

Michelle changed the way NCVO works, not just in how we deliver training, but in how we run as an organisation. She was the face of NCVO to so many people.

When we remember Michelle, we will always think of her positivity, her kindness, and how her smile could light up a room. We are thinking of her family at this difficult time and will forever hold Michelle closely in our hearts.
