Volunteering round-up: April 2023

NCVO’s new volunteering consultant Helen Tourle shares volunteering news and dates for your diary.

Introducing Helen Tourle

I’d like to say hello and introduce my first volunteering round-up!

I joined NCVO in January as volunteering consultant. I’ve worked in charity volunteering teams and programmes for nearly 10 years. I’m really looking forward to working with the huge diversity of organisations across the sector.

I’m working to deliver a range of consultancy and training services designed to support volunteering programmes.

You can follow me on Twitter and LinkedIn, or contact me at helen.tourle@ncvo.org.uk.

Solutions for volunteer recruitment and retention

We know many of you are currently struggling to recruit and retain volunteers. We’re working to explore these challenges and understand how NCVO can influence government policy to create solutions.

Please email policy@ncvo.org.uk if you:

  • would like to share insights about any issues you’re experiencing
  • have views on what we should focus on
  • would like to get involved in our policy work.

We’re also developing training for volunteer managers in volunteer recruitment. If you have suggestions for topics or challenges you’d like to see covered in this training, or great ideas or methods to share, please email helen.tourle@ncvo.org.uk.
