NCVO Strengthens Board with New Appointments

NCVO is pleased to announce the appointment of Jude Sheeran and James Watson-O’Neill to its board, reflecting its commitment to strong governance and leadership in a changing landscape.

Welcoming new trustees

NCVO welcomes Jude Sheeran and James Watson-O’Neill to its Board of Trustees. They join Ruth Marvel, CEO of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, who was appointed at NCVO’s AGM at the end of last year.

These appointments mark an important step in NCVO’s year of transformation.

The organisation is focusing on digital innovation, strengthening sector governance, and supporting charities in navigating a challenging economic landscape.

Jude Sheeran brings extensive expertise in digital technology, AI, and innovation. He has held senior leadership roles at organisations including Shaw Trust, EduServ/Jisc, Amazon Web Services, and DataStax.

His experience will support NCVO’s mission to equip the voluntary sector to meet the digital challenges and opportunities of the future.

James Watson-O’Neill will begin his role as CEO of Sense in February, following his tenure as CEO of SignHealth. He is also a trustee of the Voluntary Organisations Disability Group.

James brings a wealth of experience in leadership and governance, as well as expertise in championing disability rights, for which he was awarded an OBE in 2022.

Priya Singh, Chair of NCVO’s Board of Trustees, welcomed the appointments, stating:

"We are pleased to welcome our new trustees who bring invaluable skills and experience to our board. Their insights will help us navigate a changing landscape and ensure that NCVO continues to provide robust support to charities and voluntary organisations across the UK."

Jude Sheeran commented:

"I am honoured to join NCVO’s board and contribute to its vital work supporting charities. I know first-hand how difficult it can be for organisations to harness new technologies, so I look forward to working alongside the team to help the sector adapt to today’s challenges and prepare for tomorrow’s opportunities."

James Watson-O’Neill added:

"It’s a privilege to join NCVO’s board having worked in member organisations throughout my career. The work of the voluntary sector has never been more important than it is today so I am excited to see how NCVO can continue to support and strengthen all of our work."
