Welcome to our monthly governance round-up. Spring is in the air, and for charity leaders that means the next phase of the Charities Act 2022. Senior governance consultant Sally Stephens explains the upcoming changes.
The small charities advisory panel launched at the end of March. Made up of 14 members, this group will provide advice and insight to NCVO and our partners.
The panel will help ensure our support meets the needs and remains relevant to smaller organisations.
Following a three-year investigation, the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator has found evidence of historic misconduct at a homelessness charity.
The misconduct arose from mismanagement of conflicts of interest by the trustees.
Our Governance Forum relaunches on 18 April. The forum is a networking space for governance professionals and charity leaders. In our first event we’ll hear from speakers from the Charity Commission and Power & Integrity.
Attendance is discounted for NCVO members.
We run regular online trustee inductions and refresher courses over two half-days. We’re also offering new courses on the following areas.
We offer an eLearning module for trustees.
This course gives trustees a low-cost introduction to their roles.
We hold regular member assembly and welcome events.
