Welcome to the autumn edition of the impact round-up! In this edition Sarah Menzies, Senior Consultant, focuses on evaluation and climate change. Further on, she spotlights some opportunities in impact and evaluation, and NCVO’s training offer.

How evaluators can help with climate change

COP27 is happening right now. The conference brings countries together to take action towards achieving the Paris Agreement and Convention climate goals.

Potential roles for evaluation

Charities play a significant role in advocating for change on environmental issues and there is plenty we can contribute as evaluators. As this blog and video from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nation shows:

Evaluations can play a key role in negotiations – providing compelling evidence.
Climate promises must be assessed against their true impact – rigorous monitoring can lead to better accountability and prevent overstating achievements.
Decision makers must draw on the best evidence and the evaluation community can help provide this.
Common standards must be set to measure the progress of climate action – people working in the climate field must join forces to share knowledge, resources and develop common ways to measure climate resilience.
