Small Charity Week 2025: New match funding campaign to boost small charities

To mark Small Charity Week 2025, NCVO is partnering with Big Give and Global’s Make Some Noise to launch a match funding campaign that will provide crucial financial support to small charities.

Supporting small charities through match funding

From 23 to 30 June 2025, the Small Charity Week Match Funding campaign will help small charities sustain their essential work across the UK by providing vital financial support.

Through this campaign, donations made to participating charities via Big Give, the UK’s largest match funding platform, will be doubled thanks to the generosity of Global’s Make Some Noise and other Champion funders, including players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

This means every pound donated will have twice the impact in supporting small charities' vital work.

  • Applications open: Wednesday 19 February
  • Closing date: Wednesday 2 April
  • Funding offers announced by Wednesday 7 May

Eligible charities must have an annual income of between £5,000 and £1 million.

Why Small Charity Week matters

Small Charity Week is a national campaign celebrating the vital role that small charities play in communities. Despite their huge impact, smaller organisations are often underfunded and struggle for visibility.

Through this campaign, charities can access unrestricted funding and take part in skills-boosting opportunities. This ensures they can continue delivering essential services to the communities that depend on them.

Because when small charities are stronger, the communities they support are stronger too.

This new partnership for 2025 brings together three organisations with a shared commitment to strengthening the resilience and impact of the voluntary sector:

  • Big Give has raised over £345 million for charities through match funding since 2007 and aims to raise £1 billion by 2030.
  • Global’s Make Some Noise, the charity of Global, the Media and Entertainment Group, has funded over 480 community-led projects across the UK, ensuring no one faces life’s toughest challenges alone.
  • NCVO, as the largest membership body for charities in England, will continue its work to strengthen the resilience and skills of small charities, helping them maximise their fundraising potential and amplify their collective impact.
