NCVO has appointed Sarah Vibert as director of policy and volunteering, the charity umbrella body announced today. The role became vacant when the previous policy and volunteering director, Karl Wilding, was appointed chief executive.
Sarah is currently chief executive of the Neurological Alliance, the membership body for neurological charities. She was previously director of strategy and external affairs at the Epilepsy Society and is also a trustee of National Voices, the coalition of health and social care charities.
Sarah will take up the post in January 2020 on a 12-month contract.
Sarah Vibert said:
I have always admired NCVO for the work they do to champion and support our sector. I am therefore delighted to have the opportunity to join Karl and the team, especially at such an important time in NCVO’s development. I will miss the talented network of people I have had the pleasure to work with at the Neurological Alliance. Like NCVO, the Neurological Alliance demonstrates the power of charity collaboration in creating social change, and I will be taking that inspiration into my new role.
Karl Wilding, chief executive of NCVO, said:
I’m really pleased that Sarah is joining NCVO. She’s got loads of experience in charities and working for membership organisations so I’ve no doubt she’ll hit the ground running and really help us stand up for all that’s best about the voluntary sector and volunteering.
NCVO’s head of policy, Elizabeth Chamberlain, will take on the director of policy role on an interim basis until Sarah starts in January.
