Over 250 charities selected for Small Charity Week match funding

257 small charities across the UK will take part in a match funding campaign during Small Charity Week. Building on the achievements of the 2025 campaign, which supported 189 charities and raised over £1.8 million overall.

Supporting small charities through match funding

Following the success of last year’s match funding campaign launched as part of Small Charity Week 2025, NCVO, Global’s Make Some Noise and Big Give are partnering again to champion small charities.

The campaign will run from 22-29 June.  It highlights how these vital organisations create change where it matters most - supporting people and strengthening communities.

By doubling donations during the campaign, charities receive vital unrestricted funding to continue their essential work in communities. Beyond funding, the campaign also supports charities to strengthen their skills and long-term resilience.

Increased demand shows growing pressures

This year’s campaign received 1108 applications - a 31% increase (262 more than last year) - highlighting the growing pressure small charities are facing, as demand for support rises and resources become increasingly stretched.

Of these, 257 small charities were selected. A total of £1,226,955 in match funding has been pledged by multiple funders and philanthropists, including Postcode Lottery players.

For the first time the match funding campaign will include funding for UK-based organisations working internationally.

Most of the selected organisations (77%) have an income of under £500,000. This means the campaign is once again helping direct vital funding and visibility to some of the smallest organisations in the country.

Why this campaign matters

Kate Lee OBE, chief executive of NCVO, said:

“Across the sector, small charities are facing rising demand and shrinking resources, yet they continue to show extraordinary resilience in the face of these increasing pressures. The need for more support is clear from the significant increase in applications for the Small Charity Week match funding programme this year, and we’re delighted that the campaign will be reaching even more organisations, supporting even more people in communities.

Last year’s match funding campaign delivered a critical financial boost to the charities involved, so we’re delighted to be working again with Big Give and Global’s Make Some Noise to give even more charities the support they need to continue making a real difference.”

Suzanne Ryder Richardson, Director of Global Goodness, Global’s Make Some Noise, said:

“We’re delighted to partner with Big Give and NCVO on Small Charity Week for the second year running, shining a spotlight on the incredible impact of small charities at the heart of communities across the UK.

This year, we’re excited to support even more vital organisations delivering life-changing work. A huge thank you to those supporting the campaign, especially our generous partners, including players of Postcode Lottery. Together, we’re strengthening the reach and resilience of small charities, so no one has to face life’s toughest challenges alone."

Alex Day, Managing Director, Big Give, said:

“We’re incredibly proud to be partnering once again with Global’s Make Some Noise and NCVO to champion the work of small charities, both here in the UK and around the world. Together, we’re unlocking vital funding to help them reach more people, strengthen communities, and deliver lasting change.”

Laura Chow, Head of Charities at the Postcode Lottery, said:

“Small charities are at the heart of communities across the country, providing vital support to people who need it most. Thanks to the support of Postcode Lottery players, this year’s Small Charity Week campaign will help even more organisations access vital funding at a time when demand for their services continues to grow. Initiatives like this not only provide crucial financial support, they also ensure small charities can keep making a big impact every day.”
