Vision for Volunteering launched

Over 80 organisations and thousands of visitors came together earlier this month at Volunteer Expo Live in Birmingham. We were thrilled to launch the Vision for Volunteering at the expo! We also held an online launch on 10 May and explored the five themes in the Vision. We invite you to read about all the partner commitments to a long-term plan for volunteering and make your own commitment too. Meanwhile, we’re making plans for phase two.

Thank you to everyone who came to the NEC Birmingham for the UK’s national volunteering show. We hope you enjoyed the inspirational talks, learning workshops and lent a hand to pack over 735 emergency food boxes which have been delivered to Ukrainian refugees. You can express an interest in getting involved with Volunteer Expo in the future.

Age friendly inclusive volunteering

Last month we held a workshop to design an outcomes framework on age friendly inclusive volunteering. We’re grateful to everyone who came along to help us think through the barriers and challenges to volunteering for people aged 50+. Read more about the project, including what we heard from you and find out how you can support this work, either through our advisory group or joining our free action learning set. Closing date for expressions of interest is 22 June.

Engaging and supporting young people to volunteer: NCVO Workshop

According to NCVO’s members, during the height of the pandemic young people under 18 were actively engaged in volunteer roles. However, these suitable and meaningful opportunities are now increasingly difficult to find.

Sign up to our free online workshop to explore ways in which you can design age-appropriate volunteer roles for young people aged 13-17 years old.

European Volunteering Capital 2024

NCVO is a member of the Centre for European Volunteering (CEV). CEV is inviting cities and towns to apply to win the title of European Capital of Volunteering 2024. CEV has produced a communications toolkit to help bring volunteering organisations and local authorities together to apply.

The next date for our online safeguarding essentials in charities course is 22 June, 10.00–15.00.

Good practice in volunteer management

Our popular online good practice in volunteer management course takes place over two half days from 10.00–13.00. You need to attend both days as they’re two parts of one course.

Volunteers and the law

We’ve refreshed our online training course on volunteers and the law to address issues emerging from the pandemic. We’re offering this on 14 June, 14.00-17.00.
