NCVO announces the appointment of Kate Lee OBE as its new chief executive, joining at a crucial moment for the voluntary sector.
The National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO), the membership body for the voluntary sector in England, has announced the appointment of Kate Lee OBE as its new chief executive.
Lee joins NCVO at a crucial moment for the voluntary sector, bringing extensive leadership experience and a strong track record of championing charities, community groups and volunteers.
Recognised with an OBE in 2024 for her outstanding services to the voluntary sector, Lee will lead the organisation through a major strategic review, designed to define its role in supporting and representing the voluntary sector over the next decade.
I’ve been an avid supporter and advocate of the voluntary sector for my whole career, so it is a great honour to be joining NCVO at such a pivotal and exciting time. The voluntary sector has never been more important, and I look forward to working alongside our members, partners, and dedicated team to champion the incredible work happening in communities every day.
Dr Priya Singh, Chair of the Board of Trustees, said:
“We are delighted to welcome Kate to NCVO. She is an outstanding, proven leader with a deep understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing our sector. The Board was impressed by her vision for how NCVO can work alongside its members to champion the vital role of charities and volunteers across the country. We are confident she will bring the drive, energy and ambition needed to help the sector flourish in the years ahead.”
Baroness Delyth Morgan, President of NCVO, said:
“Charities and community organisations are working under immense pressure, facing rising need, complex funding environments, and ever-increasing demand and this requires strong and empathetic leadership to ensure our collective voice is heard at the highest levels. I am delighted by Kate’s appointment and pleased that under her leadership, NCVO will continue to be a powerful advocate for charities and the communities they serve."
