Ruth specialises in governance and board effectiveness reviews, trustee training and strategy development and theory of change. She can help you with consultancy, facilitation and training.
Ruth has worked with NCVO since 2019. She carries out governance and board effectiveness reviews and delivers trustee and strategic planning training. Ruth also supports charities to develop their strategy and provides capacity-building support for local community organisations.
Ruth is an experienced facilitator, trainer and consultant. She supports a wide range of charities to be clear about what they want to achieve and how to make it happen effectively. She adapts her approach to the needs of the organisation. She can help you plan, prioritise and make decisions.
Ruth has worked in the voluntary sector for over 20 years. She was previously director for several national youth and education charities. She’s also been a trustee of several national charities and is chair elect of a new and fast-growing charity. Ruth has an MSc in voluntary sector management from Bayes Business School (City University).

Ruth’s clients have included
- Backup Trust: Reviewing governance, including governance wheel, board observation and action planning workshop.
- British Educational Research Association: Reviewing governance structure, including interviews with selection of trustees and senior leaders. Reporting and presenting findings and recommendations.
- Farleigh Hospice: Reviewing the relationship between the hospice and a substantial trading subsidiary. This included a bespoke survey, interviews with trustees and senior leaders, reporting, and trustee workshops to create an action plan based on recommendations.
- South East Rivers Trust: Facilitating a board workshop to review governance wheel and create an action plan.
- Augustinian Care: Delivering an onsite full-day trustee induction and refresher training course.
