What is it?
These offer you a simple way for lots of people to raise money on your behalf. They’re often used alongside challenge events but they can be used at other times. Just Giving is one of the best known. Facebook and Paypal both have their own versions.
Good reasons to try online donation platforms
- People are offering to fundraise on your behalf
- You want to work out whether people will give money to you online before building a system into your own website.
Key advice
- Is the platform you want to use ethical? How much will it charge you? Make sure they follow the Code of Fundraising Practice rules.
- Ask your supporters what method they would like to use to collect donations.
