What is it?

You use an online platform which assigns you a text to donate number. People donate by text message. It uses information associated with the phone number so people don’t have to fill in any information.

Good reasons to try giving by text

  • You have a very eye-catching campaign that prompts a quick response.
  • You want to get donations from people that you know won’t fill in forms.
  • You’ve got a face to face event where you want people to be able to donate very quickly, right there and then.

Key advice

  • Check the fees that the platform you use charges. Also check how they are treating information about your supporters. Is it GDPR compliant? Compare several to get the right deal for you and your supporters.
  • Many systems for text to donate will involve you sending follow up messages. Make sure you follow the regulations.
