Mentoring and befriending events

Our highly rated training courses and workshops have been developed in order to help increase the skills and knowledge of those involved in mentoring, peer mentoring and befriending. Our core courses cover the essentials of setting up and managing a mentoring/peer mentoring or befriending project and we also offer training in mentoring and befriending skills, coaching skills, and support and supervision skills for managers.

Courses are delivered by trainers who have real practical experience and expertise in the subject to ensure you gain most value from attending.

Coaching is an essential skillset for any manager, leader or team supervisor who wants to become better at engaging, influencing and supporting others. A coaching approach gives managers and leaders a highly effective toolkit they can use to develop a more empowered and motivated workforce.

This training provides a very practical introduction to the main coaching skills and techniques, in a supportive environment, to enable you to hold a coaching style conversation in confidence straightaway.

What sort of conversations take place in a mentoring or befriending relationship? This course is intended to help you experience or refresh your understanding of the essential skills and techniques that underpin successful mentoring and befriending relationships. It is a highly interactive day designed to build skills and knowledge, and boost your confidence.

This half day workshop will show you what’s involved in achieving the Approved Provider Standard, NCVO’s specialist quality standard for mentoring and befriending projects.  It will explore what is required by you during the self-assessment process and what takes place during the assessment visit. You will also have the opportunity to hear from a practitioner who has gone through the accreditation process successfully.

This course, part A, will link to requirements 1-5. The follow on course, part B, will focus on requirements 6-10.
