Knowhow Nonprofit is our main advice and support website and the ‘go to’ place for social learning in the voluntary sector. It has a community of over 38,000 people who share knowledge, best practice and experience. You'll find anything from expert advice or top tips to bite-sized how-to guides and online training courses on any area of voluntary sector management.
Studyzone is the video training platform of the voluntary sector. With over 40 courses to choose from, you and your colleagues can get all the training you need at your own desks. You can either watch a single course or get access to all our courses by signing up to our subscriptions from as little as £9.99 per month. There is no contract and you can cancel at any time. NCVO member organisations can sign up for free. Find out more about NCVO membership.
How-tos are practical, step-by-step guides written by our KnowHow community. Anyone who has experience in a voluntary sector area can write, add to, edit or update a how-to as they see fit. Why not share your own knowledge with others in the sector?
Funding Central is a free resource for charities, voluntary organisations and social enterprises. It lists thousands of funding and finance opportunities, plus a wealth of tools and information supporting you to develop a sustainable income strategy.
At NCVO we offer bespoke, expert advice to voluntary and community organisations. We support them to become more sustainable and more effective so they can make an even bigger difference with their work.
Nearly every aspect of setting up and running a voluntary sector organisation includes a legal component in some way. From incorporation and charity law through to employment law, data protection, equalities, tax law and contracting.
In the first instance, you may be able to find some relevant general legal information from our KnowHow NonProfit site; many pages also contain signposting to specialist sources of legal information. For more complex matters, specific legal advice and assistance about your situation is often required.
NCVO cannot offer legal advice as we are not lawyers but can suggest the following guidance.
