CharityJob vacancy and salary report
A vacancy-driven market
In 2023 there was a greater demand for roles but fewer vacancies compared with the previous year.
The number of jobs posted on the CharityJob website decreased by 22% from 2022, which was in line with a decline in all job vacancies as reported by ONS.
However, demand from candidates, measured by the average number of clicks on a job ad’s ‘apply’ button, increased by 50% from 2019.
Average salary across all jobs
Despite a decrease in the total number of jobs posted, the average salary for a role increased by 4% from 2019. The change in salary since 2022 was slightly higher outside London (+4%) than in London (+2%)
Changes in working arrangements
Since the covid-19 pandemic, there have been significant changes in working arrangements.
In 2023:
- 44% of all roles posted were on-site (down from 53% in 2022)
- 44% were hybrid (up from 35%)
- 12% were remote (no change from 2022).
However, in 2019, nearly all (96%) roles posted had been on-site.
Salary increases were seen only for hybrid and remote vacancies.
Demand was highest for remote roles, which received eight times more clicks on apply than on-site roles.
