APPG meetings are attended by a range of parliamentarians and members of the voluntary sector.
Recent topics have ranged from the role of charities in campaigning to volunteer internships. The APPG also holds a yearly meeting with the Charity Commission.
We very much welcome attendees from the voluntary sector.
Meetings usually take the form of presentations by speakers and then a question-and-answer session with the floor. However, parliamentarians do have priority in asking questions.
Whether it’s a community centre or a historic house, owning property is central to the cause of many charities. But each charity faces different challenges.
Energy and maintenance costs have increased significantly in the last 18 months. The cost of meeting environmental and statutory obligations has also increased.
What measures could government introduce to make it easier for charities to look after these vital spaces and places?
We’ll be hearing from Ethical Property Foundation and Utility Aid. We’ll also hear from a voluntary organisation about their specific challenges.
