As we launch our new five-year strategy, we’rel ooking for outstanding individuals to join our Board of Trustees and help guide the next phase of NCVO’s work.
Civil society has never been more important. Charities, voluntary organisations and volunteers play a vital role in building stronger communities, supporting people through challenge and bringing people together around shared purpose.
We’re committed to strengthening the sector’s voice, influence and resilience so that civil society can thrive now and in the future.
Our members are at the heart of everything we do. We work collaboratively with our 17,000+ strong network of charities, voluntary organisations and community groups across England. Member involvement in our work starts with our Board, which includes trustees elected by our membership.
Good governance is essential to effective, ambitious and inclusive organisations. We’re committed to ensuring our Board reflects the diversity, breadth and experience of the communities and organisations that make up civil society.
We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, identities and lived experiences.
We encourage applications from people currently under-represented in our governance structures, including people from the global majority, disabled people and younger people.

Members of NCVO, in accordance with our Articles of Association, can put forward one or more nominations to the trustee board.
The application process requires nominees to apply directly that includes details of their nominating member organisation who will be required to validate their nomination in advance of the deadline.
Applications should be made in advance of the deadline to allow for this validation process.
Our Governance and People Committee will consider all nominations in July. The committee will then decide which candidates to put forward to the membership for election in August.

The AGM will take place in November where we’ll announce the election results.
Our trustee board will consider members’ resolutions for the AGM at their September meeting.
