Volunteering and digital – transforming how we give time

Digital technology has transformed the way we live and work and volunteering is no exception. It provides opportunities for us to engage with volunteers in new ways - social media can be a recruitment tool and people can now volunteer remotely and online. For some of us finding information quickly online is second nature and we expect the same for volunteering.

Date 27 September 2017
Time 10.00 - 15.30
Location St Thomas Centre, Ardwick Green North, Manchester M12 6FZ

In the morning session, join NCVO and a panel of experts to discuss the opportunities and challenges digital presents for volunteering including:

  • How do we make the most of digital to recruit, support and communicate with volunteers?
  • How can digital help us improve the volunteer experience?
  • How can it help us overcome some of the barriers to volunteering and the challenges in recruiting and managing volunteers?
  • Is technology a barrier or an enabler? Exploring the limitations and challenges of digital as a solution.

‘Help! I’m a volunteer manager’ – share your knowledge

In the afternoon Volunteer Centre Manchester will be facilitating a session where you can share good practice and network with colleagues in the room. This will be a fun interactive session that will aim to provide an opportunity for you to share ideas and inspire each other to improve your approach to volunteer management. This doesn’t have to be related to digital - you can share your ideas on any aspects of volunteer management!

We will contact you for your ‘ask’ and ‘offer’ after booking your place, with more information on this session and to let you know what you need to do in order to prepare for this.

Your ‘ask’ will be a topic you or your organisation needs help with and your ‘offer’ will be a topic on which you have some skills, experience or examples of good practice to share.

Who should attend?

Volunteer-involving organisations and volunteer infrastructure bodies from around England.

Who runs it?

The volunteering development unit within NCVO.
