Volunteering and coronavirus: How you can help

Public services

The voluntary sector plays an important role delivering public services across the UK. In 2013/14 the sector received £15bn from government bodies.

NCVO has a wide range of resources to help voluntary organisations shape and deliver public services.

Information and guidance

NCVO Knowhow is an extensive support website for the voluntary sector, allowing you to learn from and share your knowledge with others across the sector.

Our section on commissioning covers everything you need to know about the commissioning process, procurement, contracting, finance models, consortia, quality assurance and evaluation.

Our section on social investment covers risk, top tips for trustees and an explanation of all the many types of investment, and see how we can help.

Arts and cultural organisations wanting to engage in public service comissioning can read the cultural commissioning section.

NCVO has a programme of training courses open to all, with discounts for NCVO members, smaller organisations and early booking.

We can also work with local commissioners and/or infrastructure organisations to bring tailored public services training to your area.

NCVO brings together sector experts from across the country who can provide tailored support on business planning, influencing commissioners, building voluntary-sector consortia, bidding for contracts, attracting social finance and winning contracts. Please contact us here for more information.
