What charities need to know during this period of mourning

At NCVO, we are deeply saddened by Her Majesty’s death. As we said in our statement, it is an immense source of pride and inspiration for us that The Queen was our Royal Patron. Her Majesty the Queen was a strong supporter of charities and volunteering – as a patron, advocate, and champion.

Her service and duty are a legacy which will endure through the charities and volunteers dedicated to supporting communities across the UK and around the world.

In this blog, we explain how charities and volunteering will be affected in the weeks ahead. The Cabinet Office has issued official guidance on National Mourning.

We expect further guidance from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and the Charity Commission as plans from Buckingham Palace are confirmed.
