Shaun Delaney, Volunteering Development Manager

Shaun Delaney

Shaun looks at NCVO’s strategy for volunteer management and good practice. This includes the information and resources provided through NCVO Knowhow Nonprofit. Shaun also has responsibility for the volunteering newsletter and Volunteers' Week

Previously, Shaun was head of volunteering at Samaritans, supporting the involvement of over 20,000 volunteering, reducing suicide across the UK and Republic of Ireland. Before that, he spent a number of years with Volunteer Centre Greenwich, leading on income generation and supporting 300+ member organising to involve volunteers. Here, he also worked on Olympic/Paralympic related programmes including Team London Ambassadors and developed the Greenwich 2012 Volunteers programme.

He is currently volunteer trustee of Greater London Volunteering and has volunteered with various organisations since the age of eight.

Jarina Choudhury, Volunteering Consultancy Development Officer

jarina choudhury 96x96Jarina develops consultancy and training services with the aim of improving volunteering practice across the public, private and voluntary sectors.

She has first-hand experience of leading teams of refugee and migrant volunteers for a Big Lottery funded programme, Building the Big Society.

Previously, Jarina delivered two Department for Education funded contracts for the National Council for Voluntary Youth Services, supporting local youth sector organisations, and redesigned Bond’s training to improve quality and impact. Jarina joined NCVO in January 2015

Liz Woodman, Volunteering Development Assistant

Liz picture webLiz coordinates the work of the Volunteering Development Team and is specifically responsible for the National Volunteering Forums and coordinating Volunteers’ Week. She provides expert advice and support to Volunteer Managers on a day to day basis.

Liz has previously worked in Recruitment, Personnel, and Volunteer management. She co-ordinated the work of a busy volunteer centre in Bristol for over 10 years and more recently has been Volunteering officer for Alzheimer’s Society’s Central London office. She is committed to volunteering and volunteers herself with a variety of organisations.

Charlie Gillies, Trainee Policy Officer

Charlie joined NCVO in 2018 as a trainee policy officer in the Volunteering Development Unit, after completing his social policy postgraduate degree in Glasgow. He supports NCVO’s policy work on volunteering development, produces the monthly round-up blog and helps with the organisation of Volunteers’ Week and the National Volunteering Forums.

Charlie has been volunteering since childhood in various roles including at a community development charity working with the eastern European Roma community in Glasgow, as an adviser at a Citizens Advice bureau and as a Scout leader.
