The National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) and the Association of Chief Executives of Voluntary Organisations (ACEVO) have agreed to work together to promote the positive impact of the voluntary sector. The decision was taken at a meeting last week of the chairs, vice-chairs and chief executives of the two umbrella organisations. This work is now underway.
In a joint statement, ACEVO chair, Paul Farmer, and NCVO chair, Martyn Lewis, said:
"The members of both our organisations have been telling us that they would like us to work together to make the case for a strong charity sector, especially with the risk of some negative stories about charities unfairly affecting the sector as a whole.
The two chief executives, Sir Stuart Etherington and Sir Stephen Bubb, have been asked to flesh out a framework, agreed at the meeting, to coordinate several projects currently under way, and jointly develop new initiatives to promote the role of the sector in our society."
