The tiny clothes supporting bereaved families - and helping break the taboo of baby loss

Cherished Gowns provides tiny outfits for babies that are stillborn, miscarried or die shortly after birth. There is currently no special or appropriately sized clothing available for them. Cherished Gowns UK provide every UK hospital with a complete outfit containing a precious gown, hat, booties, cloth nappy, and a blanket allowing parents to dress their treasured baby.

All of the gowns are created by volunteers from wedding dresses that have been donated to the charity. They re-use the fabric in each donated dress and send photos of the finished gowns to the donor of the dress. They say this process encourages discussion of the taboo around baby loss. These clothing packs are also sent to parents on request and to funeral directors, and this service is provided completely free of charge. Based in Kent but operate nationally.
