Simon Entwisle, Deputy Commissioner, Information Commissioner's Office

simon entwisleSimon Entwisle has been with the ICO since October 2004. During that time he has been responsible (as deputy CEO and deputy commissioner) for all aspects the ICO’s operational work and support services.

He has had overall responsibility for complaints about the way that organisations handle data since his appointment and led the setting up of the ICO’s audit and enforcement functions. His remit also covers the ICO helpline and notification services.

Simon has extensive experience of setting up and running organisational structures and systems. He has led many significant change management projects across the ICO and is very experienced at implementing change. This includes the ICOs GDPR change team.

Abbie Rumbold, Partner, Bates Wells Braithwaite

Abbie Rumbold webAbbie is a highly regarded charity lawyer with a particular expertise in social enterprise.

One of the originators of the Community Interest Company, she was seconded to the UK government to work on the legislation and draft the model constitutions; she continues to have an active role in its development. She was a member of the CLA working party on the Companies Acts and, by ministerial appointment, a member of the Office of the Third Sector Advisory Board. She was chair of trustees of PayPal Giving Fund UK (which operates eBay for Charity) and a trustee of the Fawcett Society which campaigns for the rights of women.

Abbie has particular expertise in the delivery of public services, providing strategic and legal advice to public bodies on when, whether and how to use alternative delivery models to ensure needs are met, improve outcomes and reduce subsidy. She is recommended by Legal 500 and Chambers for her work in the charity and social enterprise sector.

Peter Montagnon, Associate Director, Institute of Business Ethics

Peter MontagnonPeter Montagnon is associate director of the Institute of Business Ethics. He also serves as a member of the corporate governance advisory board of Norges Bank Investment Management, as well as on the board of the Hawkamah Institute, Dubai. He was recently elected to an expert committee formed by Sika AG in Switzerland to monitor conflicts of interest and related party issues connected with the hostile bid for that company by St Gobain.

Previously he held senior governance-related positions at the Association of British Insurers and the Financial Reporting Council. As a journalist at the Financial Times for two decades, his assignments included head of the Lex column, Asia editor and capital markets editor. He is a past chairman of the International Corporate Governance Network and was a member of the European Corporate Governance Forum from 2006 to 2011.
