Morning workshops

A: Do funders misunderstand your charity?

At this workshop, the Understanding Charities team will take you through the risks and give you practical advice on how to tell your story in a positive and transparent way while still achieving your funding goals.

B: Smarter fundraising from trusts – how to use data to improve your bids

This session will cover the essential requirements of any trust fundraising approach, and will incorporate emerging thinking from the Indigo Trust on using Open Data to help trusts decide where they distribute their funding.

C: Getting the board on board: winning support and investment from your trustees

D: Working with corporates across the income spectrum

During this session, representatives from several companies will present case studies to show what impressed them about their charity partners and how these corporate relationships have supported the business objectives of both organisations.

Afternoon workshops

E: Breaking the taboo: legacy and in memory fundraising

This session will use insights from research and practice to consider how to develop effective legacy, tribute and in memory giving messages. It will also outline some practical steps for how your organisation can develop these income streams.

F: Building a successful consortium

This workshop will outline the main drivers for consortium working, the key stages that are required to build a contract-ready consortium, and how to manage and mitigate some key risks.

G: Making strategic planning work

This interactive workshop will use a practical example to show how a strategy to move to more unrestricted fundraising can develop within an organisational culture, and in response to challenges along the way.

H: Myths about finding wealth

This interactive workshop will help you consider whether fundraising from high net worth donors is the right approach for your organisation, what you need to put in place and how you can you identify and nurture these relationships.
